Day 1

Relax in the comfort of a Family Suite and enjoy dinner at any number of chain and family owned restaurants in the beautiful foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Get plenty of sleep so you can be rested for the fun-filled day ahead.

Day 2

After a hearty breakfast at the Holiday Inn, begin your days’ journey at the Alabama Fan Club & Museum, home to the Country Music Group ALABAMA.

Depart the Fan Club by traveling the scenic route to Sequoyah Caverns on U.S. Highway 11. This picturesque valley drive takes you through historic downtown Fort Payne and past rolling hills, farms and pastoral views. (Be sure to check out several antique shops in Fort Payne including the 1891 Big Mill Antique Mall.) Your destination is located just off this heavenly drive in the small community of Valley Head.

Sequoyah Caverns is more than a cave. The property has gorgeous views of Lookout Mountain, a country store, gift shop and gem mining. A 45-minute tour of the caverns reveals a wealth of underground treasures. Stalactites and stalagmites, ancient waterfalls and “looking glass lakes” that mirror the images of the caverns will astound you.

Depart Sequoyah Caverns for the mountain-top community of Mentone. Antiques and craft shops, eateries, historic churches, scenic brow vistas and more will keep you quite busy as you explore all this town has to offer. Depart Mentone on the Lookout Mountain Parkway towards DeSoto Falls, where the Little River plunges some 104-feet into a deep canyon. Follow the Lookout Mountain Parkway towards DeSoto State Park for miles of hiking trails and to the Little River Canyon National Preserve for a scenic 23-mile roller coaster ride along the rim of the majestic 700-ft. deep canyon. Dine at Cragsmere Manna Restaurant in Mentone before calling it a night and heading back to the Holiday Inn Express.

Day 3

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and map out a scenic route for your return home. We have 778 square miles of rural countryside just waiting to be explored.
