David Rainer

Mobile Register Outdoors Editor, Mobile
Whether it is hunting or fishing season, Mobile Register Outdoors Editor David Rainer can be found in the wilds of this coastal community or the backwoods of Alabama. Reporting on local and regional fishing tournaments, duck and deer seasons, or the latest outdoor sporting needs are all just a part of Rainer's weekly columns. Since joining the Mobile Register Sports Department in 1992, he has received numerous state and regional award recognitions for his journalistic reporting. Rainer has been a judge for many sporting and cooking events held throughout the region, including the annual "Alabama Wildlife Federation Gulf Coast Wild Game Cook-Off." He was also instrumental in development of the "Reel Report" for the Mobile Register, which includes graphics and the latest news about the Port City's "best of the best" fishing holes. Rainer, a former writer for The Clarion-Ledger and a native of Mississippi, is a member of the Alabama Sports Writer's Association and the Southeastern Outdoor Press Association.
