Alabama offers some of the best rock climbing and rappelling in the United States. Mount Cheaha, the highest point in Alabama, is a great place for lead and top-rope climbing, while Horse Pens 40 offers the best bouldering in the South. Hurricane Creek Park includes bolted sport, traditional, top rope, bouldering and rappelling. There's also a class held each Saturday for first-time rock climbers. Palisades Park in Oneonta is a great bluff for top-rope climbing and rappelling; and Sandrock in Cherokee County offers traditional, bolted sport, top rope, rappelling and bouldering. |
