Looking for a true "off the beaten path" adventure? Then find out more about the off-road adventures at special OHV (off highway vehicle) parks in the state. Public parks include the Minooka OHV Park in Jemison. This park is scheduled to open in 2006 and will provide trails for ATVs, dirt bikes and mountain bikes as well as walking and horse trails. The Flint Creek Multiuse Trail at the Bankhead National Forest features two trails totaling 16 miles that cross hills and valleys for motorcycles and four-wheeled ATVs. The Kentuck OHV Trail at the Talladega National Forest in Munford features four trails with a total of 23 miles of dense forest trails. It is open to ATV, motorcycle and mountain bike enthusiasts. The Ridge in Springville is a privately owned off-road-riding park. It is open only on weekends and specifically caters to motorcyclists and four-wheeled ATV riders. Gray Rock Off-Road Vehicle Park is located in Jefferson County's Mount Olive community. It is a privately owned park open by reservation only. The Park is intended for monster off-road vehicle rock crawling. Traveling at up to 10 mph through the course may sound easy, but the danger of tipping over and/or seriously damaging yourself or your vehicle is real on this extreme off-road trail. |
