Pickled Okra

Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds, tender fresh Alabama okra
  • 5 pods hot Alabama red or green pepper
  • 5 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 3 cups white vinegar
  • 6 tablespoons pure granulated salt
  • 1 tablespoon celery seed or mustard seed
Directions:

Wash okra and pack in five hot, sterilized pint jars. Put 1 pepper pod and 1 garlic clove in each jar. Bring remaining ingredients and 1 cup water to a boil. Pour over okra, to within 1 inch of top of jar, and seal. Process for 5 minutes in boiling water bath (do not use pressure cooker).
