Sawmill Gravy

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup hog lard or bacon grease
  • 1 cup flour 6 cups boiling water
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions:

Put lard or bacon grease in an iron skillet with flour and stir until mixture is dark brown. Pour in boiling water and stir fast, using a whisk. Add salt and pepper, to taste. Serve gravy over cat-head biscuits.
