Chocolate Pecan Pie (Alaga)

Servings: 6 to 8 slices
 
Ingredients:
  • 2/3 cup Original Alaga Syrup
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 Tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 cup butter (1 stick) or margarine
  • 1 - 6 oz. package of chocolate chips
  • Dash of salt
  • 1 cup pecans
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 - 9 inch deep dish unbaked pie shell
Directions:

In a small saucepan, combine Original Alaga Syrup, sugar, and a dash of salt over medium heat, stirring until sugar is melted and mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat. Stir in butter until melted. Set aside to cool slightly. In a large bowl, combine eggs, flour, and vanilla, mixing with a wire whisk or fork until smooth. Add warm syrup mixture to the bowl in a slow, steady stream, constantly beating the contents of the bowl as you pour. Spread the chocolate chips in the bottom of the unbaked deep dish pie shell, then cover with pecans. Pour the filling mixture evenly over the top. In a preheated oven, bake 1 hour and 20 minutes or until filling is set. Center of pie will puff slightly when pie is in oven but will settle when pie comes out. Cool completely on wire rack.
