Cabbage and Cheese Casserole

Description:
Cabbages grow in gardens all over the state. Here's a different way to serve the up.
Recipe Type: Side Dish
 
Ingredients:
  • 1 medium Alabama cabbage, chopped
  • 1 medium Alabama onion, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 stick butter 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 cups grated sharp Cheddar cheese
Directions:

Boil cabbage with onion, salt and pepper, using just enough water to cover, until cabbage is tender. Drain, saving the water. Set aside.

Melt butter. Add flour and, gradually, add the saved water. Cook and stir until thick. Pour over cabbage in a casserole dish. Top with cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
