He is the King of Crustaceans, the Prince of Prawns, a successful restaurateur and a promoter of the Alabama Gulf Coast. Al Sawyer, owner of King Neptune's Seafood Restaurant in Gulf Shores and Gulf Bay Seafood in Orange Beach, knows his seafood. Prior to his restaurant ventures, Al worked with Bon Secour Fisheries, peddling the gulf's bounty from Key West to Boston. In 1993, tiring of life on the road, he and his wife, Diane, followed a dream and opened a small take-out seafood restaurant which eventually evolved into King Neptune's. In 2001 their second restaurant, Gulf Bay Seafood, became a reality. Visitors and locals alike flock to King Neptune's for oysters, delicious royal red shrimp and crab claws. Al serves only Alabama Wild Shrimp and all oysters come from Bon Secour Fisheries. Al actively works with the Alabama Gulf Coast CVB to host travel writers. He has appeared on the Travel Channel's Lonely Planet and the Food Channel's Bobby Flay's FoodNation.
