When it comes to motorsports, Alabama proudly boasts some of the most heart-pounding and challenging racing events in the world: the AMA Honda Superbike Championship and Grand Am Rolex Sports Car Series in Birmingham, NASCAR race weekends at Talladega, and Thunder on the Gulf in Orange Beach.

At Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, come and watch as some of the top names in motorsports maneuver the treacherous twists and turns of one of North America's finest road courses during the AMA Superbike Championship in April. In July, the intensity is unmistakable as participants wait, calculate, accelerate, then zoom toward the finish line in an attempt to be the winner of the prestigious Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series. While in Birmingham, be sure to visit the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum, which is home to one of the largest vintage and modern motorcycle collections in the world, and tour the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, site of some of the world's most fascinating sports history, legends and sports memorabilia.

Each spring during Aaron's Dream Weekend in April and again during another action-packed weekend in October, you can see the stars of NASCAR compete in the most exciting motorsports racing on the circuit at the Talladega Superspeedway. Feel the excitement as NASCAR Cup Series drivers put everything on the line to capture the checkered flag and claim the victory.

Race Fever, an annual charity event held in conjunction with Talladega's April race, provides an opportunity for attendees to get driver autographs and bid on one-of-a-kind NASCAR memorabilia. While in the area, visit the International Motorsports Hall of Fame to learn about some of the most revered drivers in the history of motorsports.

In August, the fuss isn't about motorcycles or stock cars, but boats. Listen to the roar and rumble each summer as offshore's finest boats and drivers compete in the Thunder on the Gulf powerboat races.
