Perry County Historic Courthouse Square—The Muckle’s Ridge Festival is a celebration of new and old in historic Marion, Alabama. Come join us at the Historic Perry County Courthouse Square for a celebration of the Year of Alabama Small Towns and Downtowns. Friday night will kickoff at 5 p.m. with a free, family-friendly concert at the Marion Military Institute Parade Field with a hot air balloon tethering at twilight and live entertainment from Ruins Restored. Following the MMI event, come hear Chevy 6 and County Road 4, a blend of rock, country, and oldies on the grounds of the Gateway Inn on Highway 5 in Marion. Chevy 6 will start playing at 7:30 p.m. followed by County Road 4. Admission for both bands will be $5. Saturday’s festivities will include the dedication of an historic marker commemorating the original founding of Marion as Muckle’s Ridge and its unique history, hot air balloon races, arts and crafts vendors, unique food vendors, horse and buggy rides, a cake walk, a baking contest, children’s games and activities, and Mark Twain Day – an Alabama Big Read celebration for all ages. Sat. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Marion Volunteer Fire Department. Please contact Tiffany Vaughn at for vendor and general information.
