Alabama is home to some classic architectural styles as well as some pretty offbeat and unique examples. In October, the American Village Grand Opening Southern Living Showcase House will show visitors a residence patterned after the country's first presidential home. Also in October, the Eutaw Pilgrimage features tours of Eutaw's fabled antebellum homes and churches, while Hurtsboro's historic homes are lavishly decorated for the Christmas season. And for something completely different, architects, engineers and contractors will be competing at Huntsville's Canstruction in July. The goal is to design and build giant structures made entirely from full cans of food, with all of the food being donated to the Food Bank of North Alabama. |
