Traveling can be a fun and enjoyable experience, but it's always good to take extra precautions when you're on the road.

Don't carry large amounts of cash and valuables. Store checks, cash and jewelry out of sight and use a hotel safe when available.
Use a map and plan your trip ahead of time. An Alabama map is available free from the Bureau of Tourism and Travel at all visitor information centers or by calling 1-800-ALABAMA. When traveling by car, buckle up. It's the law in Alabama. In case of emergency, dial 911 or *HP on a cellular phone for help in securing law enforcement, an ambulance or the fire department.
