Eufaula

Settled high upon a bluff overlooking the beautiful 45,000-acre Lake Eufaula in southeastern Alabama along the Alabama-Georgia border, Eufaula is rich in both recreational opportunities and history. Known as the "Big Bass Capital of the World," Lake Eufaula features some 640 miles of shoreline and many public boat ramps and marinas. Eufaula is also home to the Seth Lore and Irwinton Historic District. With more than 700 historic and architecturally significant structures, the District includes Alabama's most coherent collection of intact mid-to-late 19th century small-town commercial buildings, as well as the state's most extensive collection of domestic Italianate architecture. Nearby Clayton was home to Alabama's longtime Governor George Corley Wallace. www.eufaulachamber.com
