Palisades Park

Palisades Park is a Blount County park & is located on the top of Sand Mountain Palisades is open year round; exceptions are Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years Day. The cliff line is visible from the parking lot & is easily accessible. It is a compact area with short routes of 30 to 80 feet with good quality sandstone. The bluff is great for building technique & skill in Lead Climbing. The wall sets up easily for Top Rope. There are approximately 100 routes with some boulders below the cliff. This crag is great for winter climbing with its Southern Exposure providing ample afternoon warmth. Follow the trail along the cliff line to the right. There are a few places to get to the bottom. The fire tower is the beginning of the bluff line and the established climbing routes; you can climb down at this point. Just below this area is a very large boulder with some problems worth trying. As you continue along the base of the bluff line you will be heading back in the direction of the office.
